4/29/2002Claim Jumper started in California, and has expanded to two Washington locations, this one and the one in Redmond Town Center. The two seem nearly identical, with the same menu and almost the same physical restaurant layout. They're known for BIG food, and surprisingly it's all very good too! This isn't an Old Country Buffet with lots of cheap food. No, this is a casual restaurant with good food and huge portions. You'd better be very hungry, or you might not even make it past appetizers. Knowing their reputation, this visit we tried to eat "light", or at least as light as you can here. We got clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, and a chinese chicken salad. Both were huge (of course) and the clam chowder was especially good - a full meal for only $6.95! We were even able to squeeze in a Cookie Sandwich for a shared dessert. Again, very good and very large.. imagine an ice cream sandwich between giant cookies. The downside is that they don't take reservations here, and it can get really busy on
weekends. The Redmond one is just as busy, so Redmondites might as well stay close to home
and go to that location. But if doing some shopping at Southcenter and find yourself hungry
enough, Claim Jumper is right there to give you a whole lot of good food.
