3/29/2002Now THIS is Italian food! I swear, the Eastside is a desert when it comes to genuine family-run Italian restaurants with good food at reasonable prices. You've either got the chains (like Olive Garden) or some fancy places (like Il Bacio) but Armondo's is a diamond in the rough. Excellent, authentic Italian food, and reasonable prices. If only it were closer than Renton! We went out on a limb and tried the special - salmon stuffed with spinach and parmesan. It paid off. What a fabulous dish! Our other entrees were also very good: Calzone, Chicken Armondo, and Fettucini Alfredo. We also had some stuffed mushrooms. The two best things about this place are the homemade blue cheese dressing (SO good!), and the hard-to-define authentic Italian flavor to every single dish. Not Americanized at all. On the down side, the decor was simple, and the service was average. Also note that they aren't open very late. But these are pretty minor gripes comparisoned to the wonderful food. It's definitely worth the trip to Armondo's, where both your taste buds and your pocketbook will thank you. Bottom Line: Excellent Italian food at reasonable prices. |
